Dr Kishor Chandra Satpathy holds
Masters from Panjab University Chandigarh; PGDLAN from University of Hyderabad
and PhD from Assam University Silchar. Presently, he is the Librarian and Coordinator,
DL & e-learning Project at National Institute of Technology Silchar.
Earlier he worked as a Librarian at IIM Indore. He was the Coordinator, Centre
for Educational Technology and Continuing Education Cell, NIT Silchar during
2001-2004. He has over eighteen years of professional experience including
teaching & research experience. He has undergone several advance training
programmes in under SAARC & UNESCO fellowships & attended Mortenson
Associate Programme of University of Illinois. He has published more than 40
papers and has spoken national and international conferences. He has edited
five books & four proceedings. He has visited Czech Republic, Portugal
& USA for academic purpose. In December 2013, he attended “FICCI Higher
Education Leadership Programme” at University of Illinois, USA. As a young
professional, his contribution to the field of LIS in terms of technology
implementation & innovation is remarkable. Some of his achievements are:
- Successfully completed two major projects
entitled ‘Virtual Classroom’ & ‘Digital Library’ sponsored by MHRD,
Govt. of India & implemented first
Dgital Library & e-learning portal of North East India.
- Implemented RFID & ERMSS at IIM Indore
& NIT Silchar, the first
Institute in the Region to have RFID.
- Instrumental in signing MOU b/w NITS Library & University of Illinois Library to facilitate the creation of a world-class, innovative, inviting and flexible library system to enhance campus learning, support research, and provide community outreach and service at NIT Silchar, through consultation and collaboration with the University Library of University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, USA in the region & is only library in the country to do so. - Initiated innovative Library Voluntary
Programme to reach out the Community specifically the poor,

- He was instrumental for INDOLIBNET
(Indore Library Network) (http://indolibnet.blogspot.com) for
cooperation & networking among the libraries of Indore. Based on his
vision document Govt. of MP has upgraded the Govt. Ahilya Library of

- Under outreach activities, coordinating
“Education to Home (eth) Project meant for IT for all & BARC-Akruti
Project” meant for Technology Transfer to the rural sector of NER.
- He is the Founder Core Committee Member of NIT

- Instrumental
in sensitizing the media people towards the library & information
activities. Because of this, there has been a substantial increase in the
news published in the newspapers related to LIS in the region.
- To create library awareness in the
region, he has organized several national level programmes & seminars sponsored by
CSIR, DST, SICI, NCTE, ISTE, AICTE, USEFI, MHRD, MoC, MPA, MYAS, etc
including SICI, 25th SIS & 10th INDEST Meet.
- Organized
